Microwave Pori Upma
Hi
Today is my first day for Blogging Marathon #8 by Srivalli. I have chosen the theme Microwave cooking
Ever since my daughter joined college , its sort of chaos in the early morning at home. She needs to have her breakfast and lunch ready by early morning and You can understand the chaos…..:-) well……But with my wonder machine ..MICROWAVE….all is not that bad. Can prepare some on the dishes in less time and with much less effort too!!.
INGREDIENTS
Pori/Puffed rice 1 cup
Onion 1 cut finely
Green chillies 2 cut
Roasted gram dhal/ Pottukadalai 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Black gram dhal 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Oil 1 tbsp
Coriander 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
PREPARATION
Soak the puffed rice in enough water for 10 minutes.Squeeze it and keep it in a bowl/plate.
Grind the roasted gram dhal into a very fine powder
Cut the onion and chillies finely
In a microwave safe bowl, heat the oil for 1 minute in high mode
Now add the mustard seeds and black gram dhal to this. Mix well with a dry spoon. Heat it for another minute in the high mode for the mustard to splutter
Now add the turmeric powder,
onion and chillies, mix well. Heat it again for 2 minutes in high mode. At the end of 2 minutes, the onion would have fried well.
Now put the squeezed puffed rice and salt. Mix well. Cook it on High mode for 2 minutes
Mix in the Roasted gram powder. Put the cut coriander. Mix well. Cook for 1 minute
Pori upma ready in 7 minutes with not much effort.

looks healthy and quick too 🙂 Wish I could use my m/w other than to heat and re-heat – never 'cooked' with it..
