The theme for this month is braided bread and the host is Gayathri of Gayathri cook spot. When I saw the theme, I knew I would bake this bread from I camp in my kitchen and blog about it since I couldnt blog about this bread last time I baked it. Both my kids love Nutella and I baked this when my son was home. But i was so busy that day that I forgot to take the pictures of this beautiful but what was more important is that he loved this bread. Now I am waiting for my daughter to come home to bake this again.

Anyway as I baked this bread, I was wondering as who would eat this bread since my kids are away. Well, friends come to the rescue. My very talented friend who does magic with her sewing machine rescued me and my bread :). Hope she like it.

Steps

1
Done

To make the dough

Mix the yogurt and soda in a cup and keep aside for few minutes till froths up

2
Done

Add flour, salt, sugar, yeast to the bowl of the stand mixer and mix well.

3
Done

Now add slowly the milk, yogurt mixture , melted butter and run the stand mixer in MINIMUM till all the dough comes together. If necessary add 1 tbsp of water to get a required consistency of the dough

4
Done

Now increase the speed of the kneading to SPEED 1 and knead it for 7 minutes. Take out the soft pliable dough and keep it covered in a well oiled bowl for an hour so that it doubles in volume

5
Done

Now take out the dough and punch it down a little . Divide it into 4 equal parts

6
Done

Roll out each part into a 6 " diameter circle

7
Done

Line a baking tray with parchment paper

8
Done

To make the braid

Place one circle on this tray. Spread 1 tbsp of nutella on it evenly leaving a gap of 1" around the circumference.

9
Done

Now place the next circle on this and spread nutella again. Repeat with another layer and finally place a circle on the top. Press down on all the sides

10
Done

Keep a small circular object in the center and make cuts from the circumference towards the center at equal intervals. I made 12 cuts

11
Done

Keeping the circular object intact, start twisting each portion. I twisted it thrice. Make all the twists similar way. Now take out the circular object. Cover this loosely and place it in a warm place to rise again for an hour

12
Done

To bake this beautiful Braided bread

Preheat the oven to 180C

13
Done

Brush the bread with milk oil mixture

14
Done

Bake for 20-25 minutes or till it starts to brown

15
Done

Switch off the oven and transfer this to a cooling rack. Brush with butter and serve

Is this like a pull apart bread? Can dip it in more Nutella 😀
Nice pictures, cannot wait to taste it!

I made this bread for a previous BM and my kids loved it. They have actually been asking for it and after seeing yours I think I might have to make this for them soon.
