I recently posted a salad called Israeli salad. I had mentioned in the post that I have used fresh chickpeas which Sruti had brought it for me. For that salad, I had used only a portion of the fresh chickpeas that she had brought. I have safely packed the rest in the newspaper, Covered it in a cloth and tucked it in the refrigerator. Gosh! These winter vegetables are so delicate that they decay so fast if not taken care. I do not think I take care of my personal belongings as much as I take care of these winter vegetables. That is because these are not available in Chennai. I depend on these vegetables on my loved ones who travel up and down and take the effort to carry these for me. So, I have used a portion of the loot to make this Fresh green channa chat.

This month I joined a new group of Fb called Food bloggers Recipe swap and Social Media. Merille is the moderator of this group. Merille blogs at Schizo chef,  In this group, each month we are assigned a blog and we have to cook and blog a dish from that assigned blog. So I cooked this chana chaat from her blog.

Fresh green chana chat

This fresh green channa chaat is a very simple chat to put together, I steamed this fresh channa. Then I mixed it up with onion, tomatoes, cucumber, fresh coriander, chaat masala. A dash of lime added to it and you have a tangy salad which can be served as an appetizer is ready.

The other legume-based salad is this Chat Masala flavoured chickpea and pomegranate salad. Another colourful salad which uses the winter produce is this strawberry salsa. Of course, the party please is this spiralized salad. I love these colourful salads, Do try them. I am sure you will love it too.

How lovely! I’ve seen fresh chickpeas a few times at our natural grocers – I’ve never known what to do with them and now I do! Can’t wait to make this!

That is such a refreshing and healthy chaat recipe. I always drool at the fresh green chana when I see it at the stores. I don’t get them too often, but get frozen ones year around. I will try this soon.
