I am sure every home will have at the least one chocoholic. At my place it is my daughter. Ever since she started eating ice creams, it has always been rich chocolate ice-cream topped with magic shell. I have tried to lure her off this combination so that she gets to try and taste other flavours but I have failed miserably :).  Even after eighteen years after tasting her first magic shell, this is her priority.I still remember the way she would eat it as kid, take out small portion of the shell and then keep digging and eating only the ice cream underneath the shell till she finishes the ice-cream and finally break the shell and eat it altogether 🙂 . Ever since then I have been planning to make this at home and finally ,I found the recipe at Seriouseats and I have tried to replicate her favourite ice cream topping and if you are a chocoholic then you should be trying this too

Steps

1
Done

Measure all the ingredients correctly

2
Done

Mix everything in a microwave safe bowl

3
Done

Microwave it for 30 seconds on MICRO HIGH. mix well. If there are lumps, then microwave it for another 30 seconds. Mix well till it begins to shine. Cool a little and pour over your ice cream , wait for 30 seconds to harden and serve

4
Done

If you are using a stove top method then mix all the ingredients in a bowl, and place it on a hot water bath and keep stirring till it becomes smooth. cool and serve

5
Done

Store it at room temperature for a day or two else, refrigerate and then microwave it for 10 seconds just before serving

Haha! The chocolate shell is the best part of eating ice cream. It looks fabulous! Can’t wait to dig in.

Wow Veena, this looks absolutely gorgeous. Will try this for Sruti. I am sure she would love it..

I’ve always wanted to make ice cream but am a bit skeptical about using coconut oil. Do you get a strong coconut smell? Not that I don’t like coconut.

Very interesting ! Would love to try this shell . All kids , oops chocoholics are the same , they want to save the best for the end .
