This year the start of the summer has been pretty severe. Thanks to the damage we humans have done to our environment, the climatic conditions are changing drastically. I wonder in a few years time, I wonder how we will change mother earth. Last year Chennai experienced a shortage of rains and this year the summer already looks severe. I just hope some miracle happens and we get rains to cool this severe summer. Well, we can only hope but what I can surely do to hydrate myself during this summer is reduce the caffeine intake and instead take more of buttermilk or lassi. Though a simple lassi is always welcome, sometimes flavouring it with a fruit tastes even better. One such is the java plum salt lassi.

JAVA PLUM SALT LASSI

Java plum or naval pazham or naaga pazham is in season now. We can eat the ripe ones as is it or make lemonade as well. Another way of using this fruit is in Lassi. Here we grind the ripe fruits with chilly coriander and rock salt and this is mixed with buttermilk and served chilled. Try one of these lassis and you will surely make them again this summer. For this fortnight, the theme chosen for Healthy Wellthy Cuisine is flavoured buttermilk and this java plum salt lassi is my contribution to the theme

Stunning pictures! Love the contrast with the beautiful pink color. As usual. Innovative Veena!

So pretty color of the lassi here di. The use of jamun / java plum makes the whole beverage extra eye catchy 😉 I just in love with this beautiful summer fruit
