Pancha means five in sanskrit. This is a neivedyam made using five ingredients. For ganesh chaturthi we mostly make kozhukkatai, modak, sundal, payasam , vadai for neivedyam. This chaturthi Panchakajjaya will also be in the neivedyam thali.
Here I have used bengal gram, sugar, dessicated coconut, sesame seeds and ghee as the main ingredients. There are other popular versions which use poha of flattened rice in this

Dry roast bengal gram and sesame seperately |

Grind bengalgram into fine powder. Spread it on a plate. Keep aside |

Grind sugar into a fine powder. Add it to the ground bengal gram |

Grind the dessicated coconut and sesame seeds to a fine powder |

Now mix all the powders together along with cardamom powder |

Now ghee 1 tbsp of ghee and pour over the ground mixture. Mix well. Offer the neivedyam to lord ganesha |

Oh, wow! This looks absolutely delicious! I’m not sure if it is similar to the panchjeeri or panjeeri that is made in parts of India, on the occasion of Janmashtami.
I love the way you have captured the picture. this Bengal gram addition to the recipe is new to me…but I am sure it tastes Wonderful.
I’m learning so much about the different dishes that are offered in different states of India to Lord Ganesha. An easy and yet flavorful Panchakajjaya. I guess that means 5 ingredients.
