I had never tried quinoa flakes before. This upma looks really good. Next time I see the flakes at the grocery store I will buy them and try it.

Quinoa flakes upma is another recipe which I make for dinner. The upma from quinoa flakes is healthier and satisfies our dietary constraints. Earlier I remember it was very difficult to get these flakes. Now a days these are easily available in supermarkets or online stores. The cooking time for these quinoa flakes is much lesser than that of whole grains. We can cook this upma just like poha with the addition of onions and potato. Here I have cooked the no onion version with an addition of only fresh coconut.
The other recipes with quinoa that I have cooked are

Heat oil a pan/ Kadai. Add mustard seeds. Once it crackles, add the gram dal, red chillies, green chillies, asafoetida, turmeric powder and curry leaves and saute for 2 minutes. Now add the soaked quinoa and mix well and continue to cook on low flame. Add salt, mix and cook for another 2 minutes in low flame with a lid closed on the pan. |
