Instant pongal mix
Make this instant pongal mix at home without any preservatives like the store bought one and be assured that you can quickly prepare your delicious pongal!
- 2 Cups Raw rice
- 1/2 Cup Green gram dal
- 2 tsp Cumin
- 2 tsp Pepper
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- 1 tsp Ginger
- Few Curry
- Few Cashew
- 3 tbsp Ghee
FOR PREPARAING PONGAL
- 1 Cup Pongal mix
- 2 Cups Water
- 1 Cup Milk
- To taste Salt
Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a pan, add the cumin, Cashew, pepper, ginger and curry leaves and saute till the curry leaves become crisp. Transferit to a plate and let it cool.
In the same pan heat the remaining ghee and add asafoetida and saute for one second. Next, saute the rice, dal mixture till all the grains are coated with the ghee uniformly.
Mix the sautéed cashew pepper mixture.
Mix well and store it in an airtight container and refridgerate.
TO PREPARE THE PONGAL FROM INSTANT PONGAL MIX
Mix everything together with the necessary salt and pressure cook it up to 4 whistles
After the pressured is released, mash it well for the yummy pongal and serve it with coconut chutney and sambhar
