Instant Arsi upma mix
Instant Arsi Upma mix is an instant mix to prepare the Arsi upma or broken rice upma in a jiffy. These instant mixes are preservatve free and healthy too.
- 2 Cups Raw Rice
- 1/2 Cup Toor dal
- 6 Red Chillies
- 1 Tbsp Ppper corn
- Few Curry Leaves
FOR THE TEMPERING
- 1 Tbsp Coconut oil
- 2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 Tbsp Bengal gram dal
- 3/4 tsp Asafoetida
Wash the rice and dal well. Drain it immediately and dry it in well. There should be no dampness at all
Roast the rice, dal and chillies together to remove any remaining dampness. Let it cool completely.
Grind the pepper coarsely and keep aside
Dry roast the curry leaves and keep aside.
Now transfer the rice dal mixture to the jar of a mixer and grind it coarsely into a rava consistency.
Add the coarsely ground pepper to this
To this add the roasted curry leaves
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it begins to splutter add the cumin, Bengal gram dal and asafoetida and as it begins to brown, pour this on the prepared instant arsi upma mix.
