Ingredients
  

FOR THE INSTANT PARUPPU USILI MIX

  • 3/4 Cup Tuvar dal
  • 1/4 Cup Gram dal
  • 10 Red chillies

FOR TEHE BEANS PARUPPU USILI

  • 250 Gms Beans

Instructions
 

FOR THE INSTANT MIX

  • Dry roast all the ingredients verylightly. Does not have to brown.
  • Let it cool completely
  • Powder it in a mixer to a coarse powder
  • Store it in air tight container

FOR THE BEANS PARUPPU USILI

  •  Wash and cut the beans finely
  • Steamit in cooker or microwave without adding any water. Let it cool
  • Take1 cup of usili mix and add 1 cup of water. Mix well. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • At the end of this time we see that all the water has been absorbed
  • After30 minutes heat oil in a pan.
  • Whenthe oil is sufficiently hot, add mustards seeds.
  • Whenmustard starts to crackle add asafoetida and saute for few second, and now addthe soaked usili mix, add salt, mix well and cook  in a low flame closing it with a lid. Sauteit every few minutes so that it does not burn at the bottom
  • Whenthe colour changes to light brown, remove the lid and add the cooked beans.
  • Tastefor the salt and add more if necessary
  • Mixwell and cook for 2 minutes more
  • Switch off the fire and serve warm
  • The best combination is Mor Kuzhambu
