Soak the dal in warm water for 30 minutes
Mix the tamarind paste in the given amount of waterand keep aside
Cut all the vegetables into small pieces preferablyevenly
Heat the oil in a pressure cooker. I have used a 3lt cooker here
Add the mustard seeds. Once it starts to splutter,reduce the heat and add all cut vegetables, mix well.
Now add the tamarind water, broken wheat, soaked dal,sambhar powder, Coriander powder , curry leaves, asafetida and salt.
Mix well.Close with the lid, put on weight on and cook onhigh till 3 whistles.
Switch off the fire. Let the pressure cooker cool completely.
Open carefully, mix everything, serve warm with appalam and raita of your choice
