Equipment

  • 1 kuzhi paniyaram pan

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 Cup Semolina preferable to use bombay rava
  • 1/2 Cup Curd sour curd preferable
  • 1 Tbsp Bengal gram
  • 1/2 Cup Water For soaking the dal
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 Onion cut finely
  • 1 Tbsp Coriander Cut finely
  • 1 Green chilly Cut finely
  • Few Tsp Oil For shallow frying
  • To Taste Salt

Instructions
 

  • Soak the gram dal in water for 1 hr
  • Meanwhile mix rava and curd together.
  • Add enough water to make it in a thick pouring consistency batter. Close it with a lid and keep it aside for 1 hr.
  • Chop the onion, green chilies, coriander finely.
  • Now add the cut onion, green chilies, coriander, asafoetida, and salt to this batter. Mix well
  • Heat the Kuzhipaniyaram pan, pour 2 tsp of oil into each depression
  • When the oil heats up sufficiently, pour a spoonful of the prepared batter into each kuzhi, and close it with the lid.
  • Cook on low flame for 1 minute
  • Now flip each paniyaram on the other side and let it cook till it gets a golden brown color
  • Serve warm with a chutney of your choice
