Black Forest Cake

I am sure most of us
who like to bake have tried this cake atleast once. If you have not yet tried
this ultra light super moist cake, do try out this recipe. This was taught to
me by Mrs. Chandri Bhat . Those were the days when the teacher would make sure we
get the basics rights and I am blessed to have learnt the basics from her.
INGREDIENTS
FOR THE CAKE
All
purpose flour
1
cup minus 4tbsp
Cocoa
4tbsp
Baking
Powder
3/4tsp
Eggs
4
Sugar
3/4
cup
Vanilla
1tsp
Melted
butter
4tbsp
Hot
water
3Tbsp
FOR THE FILLING
Whipping
cream
1
cup
Grated
chocolate
As
desired
Cherries
Few
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to
200C
Mix the flour, cocoa
and baking powder. Sieve twice.
Beat eggs with sugar
till it is thick and 3 times the original volume
Beat in the essence
Add the flour mixture
very gently through a sieve.
Fold in the butter and
very hot water
Pour in the parchment
layered baking tray and bake for 20-22 minutes or till the skewer inserted in
the middle comes out clean
Transfer this to a
cooling rack
Invert it after it
cools down completely
Slice the cake into two
horizontally
Soak both the layers
with the soaking syrup from the cherry can
Beat the shipping cream
till you get stiff peaks
Spread some in between
the layers
Arrange few cherries on
it
Place the other layer
of the cake on this
Cover the whole cake
with cream
Sprinkle chocolate
shavings on it
Pipe some more whipping
cream and place cherries on it

Serve cold!!!
