Masala Pori

Today it rained liked mad…Heavy downpour and the weather is quite cold compared to chennai standards. I was sure when Vibha comes home in the evening, she would like to have something chatpata in this weather.Looked at the pantry and found 1 packet of puffed rice……so here comes my Masala pori for this cold chennai evening:-)

INGREDIENTS

Puffed rice 3 cups

Bhel puri chutney/ green chutney and sweet chutney 1 tbsp

Sev (ready made/ homemade) 1/4 cup

Onion 1(cut finely)

Carrot 1(grated)

Turmeric power 1/4 stp

Chilli powder 1/2 tsp

Chat Masala 1 tsp

Mustard 1 tsp

Oil 2 tsp

Salt to taste

PREPARATION

Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan and add mustard seed.

When it crackles add the turmeric and chilli powder and mix well.

Now put the puffed rice and mix immediately. Sprinkle the required amount of salt

To serve
Place this masala pori in a bowl

Add the bhelpuri chutney and mix well.

Transfer this to a serving plate

Put the fresh cut onions on it

Now put the fresh graed carrot

Sprinkle chat masala to this

Now top it with generous amount of sev and serve!!!!!

If you add roasted ground nuts and small cut pieces of cocnut, it will be tastier.This is what is done for Jal mudi in Kolkata.
Mustard oil gives it an unique flavour.
