Lavash – 7 day blogging Marathon

Hi
This time when srivalli announced the 7 day marathon, the response was phenomenal.
Starting from today we have 26 bloggers who will be running this marathon, with five different themes.Srivalli had suggested 5 themes from which we could choose one ,and for the next seven days you can find the starter recipes in my blog:-)To start with i chose to bake Lavash.
Lavash is also known as cracker bread. It is a soft thin bread topped with sesame seeds and dries out quickly to become very crispy and brittle. A perfect starter to start any meal:-)…well!! that’s how my daughter terms it as:-)
All purpose flour 1 cup
Active dry yeast 1/2 tsp
Sugar a pinch
Salt to taste
Olive oil 3 tbsp
Sesame seeds 2 tbsp
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 180 C/ 360F
In a bowl take warm water and add the sugar and yeast to it. Keep it aside for it to prove.
In a large bowl sift the flour.
Add the yeast sugar mixture to it and knead into a soft dough, if necessary add more water.
Transfer the dough to a well oiled bowl, cover it and let it rise to double its volume( nearly 30- 30 minutes)
Divide the dough into 6 parts or more.
Roll each ball into a circle(thin), brush with oil and sprinkle sesame seeds on it.
Using a pizza cutter, cut these into small triangles(run the knife along the diameter of the circle)
Place these triangular pieces on a greased baking tray and bake for 8- 10 minutes or till the surface starts browning.
Serve with a dip of your choice. My choice always is Tahini dip:-)
Do try this out, you are sure to love it:-) Please come back tomorrow for another starter recipe!!!
