Another lovely combo platter is the Rajma Chawal. Rajma Masala is nice with roti but this combination is so delicious!Very simple, easy to make 🙂 Here is the simple recipe for a simple dish which tastes awesome
INGREDIENTS
Basmati Rice 1 cup
Rajma Masala 3/4 cup
For The Basmati rice
Pressure cook the rice in 2 cups of water for 3 whistles and keep aside.
FOR THE RAJMA MASALA
Rajma 1/2 cup
Onion 2(Medium sized)
Tomato 2
Green chilli 2
Ginger 1/2″ piece
Coriander powder 1tsp
Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
Amchur powder 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala 1tsp
Coriander 1tbsp
Ghee 1tbsp
Cardamom 2
Cinnamon 1/2″ piece
Bay leaf 1
Salt to taste
PREPARATION
Soak the Rajma overnight . Next morning cook it in pressure cooker in 2 cups of water with a little salt added to it. Cook upto 4 -5 whistles, so that it is completely cooked but does not become mushy
Cut the onions, tomatoes, green chillies and ginger finely
Heat the ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and when it sizzles add cardamom, cinnamon and bayleaf. Saute for 1 minute
Now add the chopped onions and saute till it turns transparent
Now add the cut chillies and ginger and continue to cook in low flame for 1 minute
Now add the tomatoes, mix well and cook
Put all the dry powders and salt , mix well, sprinkle little water and cook till the tomatoes become mushy
add some water and cook.
Now add the cooked rajma , mix well and cook in low flame for 5 minutes.
Adjust the quantity of water needed
Garnish with coriander
Serve hot with fresh cooked basmati rice!!
