for the final day of Dal Marathon, I made this tarkari dal. A protein packed dal with the goodness of the veggies used .
Tuvar dal 2 tbsp
Green gram dal 3 tbsp
Masoor dal 2 tbsp
Cut vegetables 1 cup(I used only red vegetables like carrot, red capsicum, pumpkin,)
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder 1 tsp
Garam masala 1 tsp
Kasuri methi 2 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
Slice onion thinly
Cut all the vegetables and tomato into small bits
Wash all the dals and cook in with enough water till it turns mushy
Heat a pan with oil. Add cumin seeds and when it sizzles add the cut onion and saute till it turns transparent.Now add all the other vegetables, mix well and saute till they are cooked. Takes around 3-4 minutes.
Now add the tomato and mi well and continue to cook.
Time to add the dry powders and mix well.It will turn into a soft mass after 2-3 minutes and then transfer the cooked dal together with salt and kasuri methi. Mix well
Cook in a very low flame for 5 minutes
Serve hot with rotis
