Matza / Matzah

Hi
Matza/Matzak Or Matzoh is an unleavened bread traditionally eaten by Jews during the week long Pass over Holidays when eating chametz leavened bread and other food made with leavened grainsis forbidden according to the Jewish law. This flat bread can be prepared either with whole wheat flour or with a combination of whole wheat, barley, oats and spelt flour.Woah! I am amazed at myself, that i am giving out so much information of an flat bread which I have never heard or tasted till now. What does it imply???Simple..I have been doing my homework pretty well, reading the wikipedia:-)
Anyway this bread with is similar to our chapathi but is much crispier…just like khakhra.Eay to cook and easy to eat too.
INGREDIENTS
Whole wheat flour 1 cup
Salt 1/4 tsp
Olive oil 2tbsp
Water just enough to knead
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 250C
Mix the flour, salt and little water and knead well.
Now add all the oil and knead it into stiff but smooth dough
Pin small balls from the dough
Roll each ball into a thin disc , just like our chapathi but as thinly as possible
Place this on a greased tray
Prick all over with a fork.
Make diagonal markings with a pizza cutter but be careful not to seperate it now.
Bake in the hot oven for 3 minutes. Flip over and bake for another 2 minutes. It will be crispy and have a golden brown colour
Bake all the breads the same way
You have lovely crispy matza ready
I served it with cheese dip!!
