1/4 cup Whole Urad gram dal dehusked
1 Green chilly chopped finely
1 tbsp Corainder chopped finely
5 Curry leaves chopped finely
2 tbsp Fresh grated coconut
To taste Salt
For deep frying Oil

    When I first heard the name , I thought it was a variety of biscuits, something baked but was pleasantly surprised to hear that it was another version of our own Ulundu vadai or medhu vadai.Biscuit ambadoBiscuit ambado is a konkani version of medhu vadai. Here they add coconut, coriander , curry leaves and green chillies to the batter. This vadai is a perfect snack for your kid and can be served with any chutney of your choice

    Soak urad dhal in water for 1 hr

    Meanwhile chop coriander, chilly, curry leaves and keep aside

    Drain the water completely from the dal and grind it smooth in a mixer or grind. Add very little water if necessary

    Now add coriander, curry leaves, salt, chilly and coconut to this and mix well

    Now heat oil in a deep pan and when sufficiently hot, lower the heat and drop small blobs of this batter in hot oil carefully , so that the oildoes not splatter on your hand.Increase the heat and fry for 2 minutes

    Now with a slotted ladle, turn each one the other side and cook on this side too, till the vada becomes golden brown in colour

    Now slowly take it out with a slotted ladle and drain it on an absorbent paper

    Serve warm with a chutney of your choice
