Every kid loves to eat deep fried snacks. My daughter too and if the weather is cold and it is raining, then the adults would love to eat these nutty potato paneer balls.
These nutty balls have a wonderful texture and flavour. It is quite soft since the main ingredients are paneer and potato. The crunchiness that you get in every bite is due to the addition of coarse cashew powder. The spices like garam masala and chilli powder gives the flavour together with kasuri methi. If the next question is will it be a a laborious process?, then the answer is a big NO. You can dish out paneer potato balls quickly.
Paneer is such a versatile ingredient and you can use it an main ingredient in main course like Paneer butter masala, as a snack like paneer tikka, as a dip like as used in cucumber paneer bites or in a dessert as paneer kheer. The options are numerous. So here is my appetizer for the kids party. Do try this and see your kids enjoy the snack
Cook the potato till just soft. Remove the skin and mash it well.
To this mashed potato, add the mashed paneer, cashew powder, chilli powder, corn flour, garam masala, salt and kasuri methi. Mix well. Make small even sized balls and keep aside
Heat enough oil in a deep frying pan. When it is sufficiently hot, reduce the heat and slowly transfer 1 ball into it . Check if it disintegrates. If yes, add more corn flour , mix well and make balls again. If not transfer more balls into the oil and cook till it starts to brown
When it is slightly brown, turn it over and cook till this side also begins to brown. Drain it on absorbent paper and serve warm
