Kanu falls on the next day of the Pongal. Kanu is celebrated praying for the long and healthy life of the siblings. We traditionally cook mixed rice for this festival. Puliyogare is a must in every Iyengar household. We love Puliyogare and I did not want to miss out on having this tangy delicious puliyogare because I had to restrict the use of tice. Hence I cooked quinoa puliyogare. Check out the quick video here
In quinoa puliyogare, I have used quinoa instead of rice. By doing this, I have not compromised on the taste. The dish is too delicious for words, By using quinoa, we have advantages too. In this recipe, I have used the instant homemade puliyogare mix. You can choose to use the ready mix available off the shelf too. For the traditional way of preparing, we can make the pulikachal and use it. The other recipes which are cooked on this day are Coconut rice and yellorai
Make this for lunch or dinner, you will ask for more. I served this puliyogare with a big bowl of cucumber thair pachadi. You can additionally serve it with appalaam too.
