Bittergourd chips or Pavakkai chips in air fryer are the best way to make these chips. I am sure not many like to eat this vegetable in a curry form but most would love to have it in the chips form. We at home like to eat bitter gourd as chips like this or in the form of curry which can also be made in an air fryer. We also like to eat bitter gourd as pavakkai pitlai.

The main advantage of cooking in an air fryer is obviously the less usage of oil. Here hot air is circulated to cook and make the food crispy. The second advantage I feel is, we need not babysit the food while it is frying. Unlike the regular frying where we need to keep an eye on the food.

Yes, we can always make these bitter gourd chips without an air fryer. You can layer the cut vegetables in a hot oven and bake them till crisp. The easier way is to deep fry these bitter gourd roundels in hot oil till it becomes crisp. Make them in any of the above-said methods to get crispy pavakai chips.

Preparation of bitter gourd chips in air fryer

INGREDIENTS
Bittergourd
1/4 kg
Chilli powder
2 Tsp
Turmeric Powder
1/4 tsp
Oil
3 tsp
Asafoetida
1/4 tsp
Salt
To taste
PREPARATION
1. Cut the ends of the bitter gourd and remove the seeds. Cut the bitter gourd into thin rings. Now mix all the other ingredients with this.
2. Preheat the air fryer at 200 C for 4 minutes.
3. Now add the mix bitter gourd and air fry it for 5minutes.
4. Mix once and again air fry it for another 4-5 minutes or until it turns crisp.

 

5. Serve with rice and sambhar!!

  • Mix once and again air fry it for another 4-5minutes or until it turns crisp.
  • Serve with rice and sambhar or can serve as a snack.
