This recipe will yield you a dozen cookies
Today for the alphabet G lets travel towards Egypt. Ghorayebah pronounced as ghreybeh are shortbread or butter cookies from the arab world. These are baked with only three ingredients and I must say they are addictive. This recipe if from suma’s blog- Veggie Platter is very easy to follow and it was done pretty fast too
Since I refrain from eating baked goodies, I have to constantly on the look out for neighbours or guests whom I can give these. Luckily for me Valli dropped in with her kids and she tasted these and she liked it very much and she told me her son liked it too. So this recipe is a keeper.
Put the almonds in warm water for 15 minutes and blanch them. Remove the skin and let it dry completely
Preheat the oven to 180C
Beat clarified butter and sugar till creamy
Add flour and combine to make a soft pliable dough
Line the baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it
Divide the dough into 1 equal portion. Make it into balls, flatten a little, place a blanched almond on each and place them on the prepared baking tray
Bake them till they start to brown a little approximately 18-20 minutes
Transfer them to a wire rack and let it cool completely and enjoy the cookies
