|3 tbsp Channa dal/Bengal gram dal|
|6 tbsp Daniya/ Coriander seeds|
|1 tsp Methi daana / Fenugreek seeds|
|12 Red chillies|
|2 tbsp Sesame|
|1 tsp Oil|
Gothsu podi is a very essential spice powder in a Tamilian kitchen. We use this spice powder to mainly flavour the kathrikai gothsu or vengaya gothsu. In addition to that, we can always add this to make our regular curries more flavourful.
The main ingredients of this gothsu powder are urad dal, gram dal daniya, chillies, coriander seeds, and sesame. We can make this powder and store it in airtight containers for nearly 3 months
Dry roast the sesame seeds and keep aside
Add oil and roast the chillies and when they puff up, take it out and keep aside
In the same pan add all other ingredients and roast till they start to brown. Let it cool completely
Now transfer everything to a jar of the mixer/grinder and powder it well. Store in airtight containers
