Tikkis forms an essential part of any Indian party. The perfect starter which is also most sought after. We can make many variations of these tikkis and kebabs and today I am showing you the preparation of Beetroot paneer tikki. This particular tikki has been air fried to give you the healthy option.
WHAT IS A BEETROOT PANEER TIKKI?
Tikki’s are nothing but a name given to patties. This essential will have one vegetable or a medley of vegetables. To make it healthy and balanced, we can add a source of protein. The carbohydrate will act as a binding agent and this will make it a full meal, Beet root tikki has beet, paneer and sweet potato added to make it a perfect balanced dish.
INGREDIENTS USED IN THIS TIKKI:
BEETROOT: The main vegetable that I have used in this tikki is the beetroot. I prefer not to use the juicy ones in this recipe. It becomes a little difficult for the tikki to hold the shape is there is more moisture. However, you can squeeze out the juice and use it too.
PANEER:
Paneer is the protein used in this tikki. It acts as a binding agent too. The quantity of paneer used should not exceed the quantity of beetroot. This makes sure the flavour and taste of the vegetable is not compromised.
SWEET POTATO:
Sweet potato acts as a binding agent here. It also adds to the taste of the final dish. Sweet potato is generally used in many recipes because of its nutritional profile.
SUBSTITUTION IN THIS TIKKI:
- You can veganize this tikki by simply substituting paneer with tofu without compromising the protein content.
- If you like potatoes more than sweet potato, feel free to substitute.

Lovely tikkis Veena. I usually make them with beetroot and potatoes. Love your idea of using paneer and sweet potato. Perfect as a snack or starter especially since they are not deep fried.
I am always on the lookout for recipes that can help me as appetizers and double up as snacks. These paneer beetroot cutlets are perfect.
These Beetroot paneer Tikki looks amazing, specially the addition of beetroot and they are air fried. Will try it.
