1 Green chilly
1 cup Cucumber
2 tbsps Fresh coconut
fr0m 1 lemon Lemon juice
To taste Salt

    Kosambari features in Karnataka thali most of the times. Having spent 22 yrs in Karnataka, the is a lot of Kannada influence in my cooking. Especially the madhwa cooking. I like to serve this kadalebele kosambari at least once a week. Vibha likes the kosambiri I make with moong dal while I like this kosambari

    Bengal gram in Kannada is called as kadalebele. This Kadalebele kosambiri is a type of salad where we soak the gram dal and then coconut, chilli, cucumber and salt are added to it. When served with the Karnataka thali, it tastes amazing.

     

    Steps

    Wah and cut the cucumber in small pieces

    Soak the gram dal in water for 1-2 hrs

    Drain it completely

    Transfer the chilli, soaked gram dal and salt to a jar of the blender

    Run the blender in pulses to grind it coarsely

    Transfer it to a serving jar.

    Add the finely cut cucumber, lemon juice and coconut to this. Mix well and serve

    Tempering with mustard is optional

    NOTE: Add the cucumber just before serving as it tends to leave out water
