Wow, that apple strudel looks so crispy and delicious. Love that pic of Vibha with the snow capped mountains. Looking forward to your yummy dishes in this month Veena.

Recently we visited Germany for a holiday and vibha had planned our further holiday in Spain and Austria. One thing she kept telling us to definitely taste the Austrian Apfelstrudel and this happened when she took us on the one day trip to Zugspitze, the highest mountain peak in Germany on the alps. It was spectacular to watch the snow clad mountains and the frozen lake below. It was here that we tasted warm apfelstrudel and it was heavenly. So for day1 of bake around the world, it is Apfelstrudel or Apple strudel from Austria.
Appel strudel is a pastry from Austria where the pastry sheet is made from a very thin dough, filled with apples and raisins and generous amount of sugar and baked to perfection. This is served warm with whipped cream or ice cream. Search for the perfect recipe lead me to this blog and I baked this perfect apfelstudel, exactly like the one I tasted at Zugspitze
Here is a picture of the beautiful snow clad mountains at Zugspitze
