Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
2 tbsp Green gram dal
2 tbsp Raw rice
1 cup Water for cooking the rice and dal
1/2 cup Jaggery
1/4 cup Water for dissolving the jaggery
A pinch Cardamom powder
1 tbsp Ghee
5 Cashew
5 Raisins

    Another payasam recipe which is generally prepared for varalakshmi vratham is this payasam. We include equal quantities of rice and green gram dal. The proportion can we varied as per your choice. This can be prepared easily for neivedhyam.

    My daughter loves these paysasam where jaggery is used as a sweetner and not sugar. I am sure you also will like this. Try this simple payasam for any festival

    Steps

    Take 2 tsp of ghee in 1 lt pressure cooker. Heat it on low

    Now add the dal and rice to this and roast it till a good flavour comes

    Now add 1 cup water to this, mix well , close the pressure cooker, put the weight on and cook on high for 4 whistles. Let it cool completely

    Meanwhile add 1/4 cup water to the jaggery and heat it on low flame till the jaggery dissolves. Strain it through a strainer and remove the dirt which might be there. Transfer it to a small pan or bowl and heat it till it start to thicken. Switch off the fire and keep aside

    Now if the pressure is completely released from the cooker, open the lid carefully. Mash the rice dal mixture well and add the jaggery to it. Let it boil for 2 minutes. Add cardamom and mix well

    Now add the milk, boil for 1 minute and switch off the fire

    Heat the remaining ghee in a pan and fry the cashew and raisins till it starts to brown and pour it on the prepared payasam. Neivedhyam is ready
