Khichdi with spinach, green gram and jowar is power packed with nutrition. Healthy and wholesome meal on it’s own and makes a great option for those on diet.
Palak jowar kichadi is a very nutritious kichadi made with jowar grits and green gram dal with an equal amount od organically grown palak.
Here I am with yet another millet based kichadi. Today for the alphabet J for the pulav fest, it is palak jowar kichadi. I have some lovely organically homegrown palak from my very tiny garden. Well technically it is not a garden, but I try to grow plants in my apartment where ever it is possible without hindering others. So I have this small patch of palak growing and I saw some of the leaves grown quite big and mature. Time for harvest and the happiness in harvesting these homegrown greens and vegetables is limitless.
In a regular kichadi recipe, we will use rice and green gram dal. Since I wanted to use millets I have used Jowar here. I have not used the full jowar but I have used the jowar grits. I cook upma with jowar grits. We make jollada rotti with jowar flour. Having grown up in interior Karnataka affinity towards jowar is always high. So have used equal measures of jowar grits and green gram dal and have cooked this in an electrical pressure the wonderchef nutripot. If you are residing in any other country other than India then you might be in the possession of an instapot or the electric pressure cooker from Cosori. The cooking method and timing is the same across any brand of electric pressure cookers. I love to use my kitchen gadgets to the maximum as their primary purpose is to ease out cooking.
If you do not have a wonderchef nutripot or an Instpot or Cosori, you can cook this kichadi in a regular pressure cooker as well.
Here is the list of the one pot meal that I have cooked until now for the pulav fest
