1/2 cup Green gram dal payatham paruppu/ moong dal
3/4 cup Jaggery
1/2 cup Milk
1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
1 tbsp Ghee
2 tbsp Sliced nuts cashew, almonds, pista

    Wishing all my readers a very happy new year with a sweet note. Payatham paruppu payasam is generally cooked on a festival and I have cooked this to celebrate the beginning of yet another lovely year ahead of us. Let us all make resolutions to be happy, to stay healthy and fit and do our bit to save mother earth

    The main ingredient of this payasam is payatham paruppu or moong dal. This is cooked well, mashed slightly that cooked in the jaggery syrup and finally milk is added to it.

    Cook the green gram dal in enough water, mash well

    To this add the grated jaggery and continue to cook on low flame till it comes together

    Now add the cardamom powder, mix well and cook for 1 minute and switch off the fire

    Add the milk and mix well. Add more milk to get the required consistency

    Heat the ghee in a small pan and when sufficiently hot, add the nuts, saute till they just begin to brown and add it the prepared payasam.

    I took a spl note as it has jaggery…I was thinking of giving a variation by adding
    Other mylk.. instead of the regular dairy… what say
